Dr. Bhargavi (Bhar) Chekuri (she/her) is an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Colorado, and also faculty at the CU Climate and Health Program where her focus is graduate and continuing medical education. She directs the Climate & Health Science Policy Fellowship and the Diploma in Climate Medicine. Her current areas of interest include the intersection of primary care, community medicine and climate change with a focus on systems medicine and health and gender equity. She has served as a technical contributor to the 5th National Climate Assessment, attended and presented at multiple United Nations Climate Change Conferences and is a fellow at the Payne Institute of Public Policy.

Emily Sbiroli MD

Dr. Emily Sbiroli (she/her) is an emergency medicine physician in San Diego, California. She completed the University of Colorado National Physician Fellowship in Climate and Health Science Policy in 2022 and serves as affiliate faculty for the Diploma in Climate Medicine. Her expertise includes health care sector decarbonization, the impacts of climate change on human health, and clinician education and engagement in these issues. She served as the physician liaison to the US EPA Climate Science and Impacts branch, contributed to the US EPA sentinel report on Children’s Health and Climate Change, and works as consultant for health systems and health-adjacent organizations on climate footprint mitigation.
