Position Description

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD)Specialist supports the needs of the clinical learner and organization by advocating for professional development programs and curricula. The NPD Specialist influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings by providing direction and support through strategic planning to meet the associate's educational needs identified through structural needs assessments, regulatory agency requirements, quality outcomes data and leadership input. The NPD Specialist assumes the seven key roles including a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty, and partner for practice transitions to support the organization in the provision of quality patient care by helping to ensure the clinical competence of nursing staff and foster the delivery of compassionate, evidence-based nursing practice.
